This magnificent Alton Bay home is an entertainer’s dream. With enough space for large groups of friends or small cozy family gatherings, the property provides comfort and enjoyment for everyone.
Spanning nearly a year of work, this bespoke, new construction project was completed alongside Beckwith Builders. Belknap Landscape proactively worked during construction to safeguard existing waterfront elements and mature tree species while integrating new landscape features into the property.
When approaching the home from the rear, ornamental gardens come alive with color and texture thanks to assorted tree specimens, perennial and annual flowers.
River stone drip edging and planters soften the geometric lines of the new paver driveway.
Towards the rear of the property is a northward facing granite staircase recessed into a stone retaining wall. The staircase leads to an upper-level back patio where a sunken hot tub provides relaxation and comfort on cool evenings. Under the patio, an underground utility bunker was constructed to hide the hot tub’s mechanical equipment.
Tiered natural stone patios and retaining walls cascade downward from the upper patio, making usable space where a hillside once existed. Each tier serves a different purpose, with the most generous level sporting a custom masonry fire pit and seating area for memorable fireside moments with family and guests.
Natural stone slab stairs provide access from the home through the tiered patios and toward the perched beach and dock. The sandy beach is framed by accent boulders, ornamental flowers and mulched areas that balance the textures and colors of the hardscape. Hidden irrigation makes sure plants remain healthy.
Rising upward from the northern tiered area is the rolling lawn where party tents can be installed for large events, or a game of catch with kids or grandkids can be played. Along the shoreline, native mature trees and shrubs are maintained, forming a vegetative barrier to encourage lake health and providing privacy from passing boaters.
The southern shore of the property is home to more docks and the boathouse, both of which are accessed by a long, granite stairway. Dry stack stone retaining walls add form and function, while low voltage lighting enhances the property’s natural beauty and safety after sunset.
Belknap Landscape’s property care team protects the investment in the residence with a maintenance plan that includes mowing, pruning and weeding. The plant health care team ensures the property flourishes from turf to treetop.
Certified arborists mitigate pest concerns as well as structural and ornamental pruning. Year-round management of the strategically placed watering system and landscape lighting is done by our professional irrigation staff. The property’s dedicated account manager coordinates all care, assuring the owners’ only concern is whether to sit by the fire, enjoy the hot tub or swim in the lake.
